Black tea is a fully fermented tea. Its production involves withering, rolling, fermenting, and drying. The tea polyphenolsin the leaves are fully oxidized, giving the tea a bright red liquor, a mellow and sweet taste, with floral, fruity, or honey-like aromas. Common varieties include Keemun black tea and Lapsang Souchong. It is suitable for drinking hot or mixing with milk.
